Wayan Semara - Balinese Painter
Since as a childhood, he liked to draw. When he was in Elementary School and Junior High School, his note books full of his drawings. He continued his study in Art and Painting School in Batubulan Gianyar and then to Indonesia Institute of Art in Denpasar.
Painting is expression of his spirit. He finds happiness and satisfaction when he does his painting. He finds figure of women are interesting for him. He admires the woman, and this is influenced by his mother, his wife and Balinese women. He see beauty in women figure, not only physical object but also mental and characters in woman.
Woman is symbolic of Earth in our Hindu religion. They have similar characters such as beautiful as scenery, always giving without expecting something in return and supporting the life of family with caring and patience in difficult life or in happiness situation. Beauty in a women is abundant, as a full of beauty sources can be discovered.
He is a calm and shy type person, and can be seen in his art work. He believes that technical and visual of artwork will speak by itself about the quality and the beauty. Spirit and mind should be in freedom condition in doing the painting process to meet the satisfaction result. Self satisfaction is his motivation beside his hobby is painting. His life flows naturally and he always grateful for all the blessings he got. Be simple and flexible in life is his life philosophy.
